Pelin Esmer’s new film Queen Lear has been selected as one of the three films featured in “Glocal In Progress,” a San Sebastian Film Festival program showcasing works in the post-production stage.
Directed by Pelin Esmer and produced by Pelin Esmer and Dilde Mahalli, Queen Lear follows the women of Arslanköy—who were the subject of Esmer’s 2005 documentary The Play—as they travel to the most remote villages of Mersin 14 years later to stage their own adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear.
